Jimmy Heck had four hits, including three doubles, on the
day to raise his average to a team-best .429 on the season.

The Birds took a 4-0 lead in the first inning against Wayzata as Dan Labosky, who had just returned from a nine-day absence to participate in USA Hockey's national development camp, opened the game with an infield single. He eventually scored on Keaton Studsrud's single.
Studsrud would later scored on an error and Matt Ambre's two-run single completed the four-run first inning.
A leadoff single by Sam Lynch and Jimmy Heck's two-out RBI single produced another run in the second inning for Chester Bird before Wayzata scored three times in the top of the third.
Ambre gave The Birds a 5-1 lead when he reaced second on a throwing error with one out in the third, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scord on Mikey McGill's basehit.
A three-run fourth inning for the Trojans tied the game at 6-6 and the score remained that way until the eighth.
Chester Bird had a chance to end the game in the seventh when it loaded the base with no one outs when Heck led off with a double, moved to third on Joe Melles' single and Gabe MacDonald walked. However, Nate Olmanson, who would work six innings in relief, got a strikeout and two infield fly outs to end the threat.
Dan Davis came on to pinch hit for Wayzata to open the eighth inning against Melles, who came on in relief of Heck to start the eighth. He and Michael Fecho drew back-to-back walks before Matt Blanchard moved the duo up a base with a sacrifice bunt. An intentional walk to Jake Steinbach loaded the bases and Ryan Poppitz's sacrifice fly out gave the Trojans their first lead of the game.
Labosky started The Birds' eighth-inning rally with another infield hit and moved to second on a throwing error on the play. He alertly moved to third base when Studsrud flew out to right field and scored the tying run on a wild pitch.
Wayzata scored a pair of unearned runs in the top of the ninth inning and Olmanson worked a 1-2-3 bottom half of the inning to give his team the win.
Labosky, Heck and McGill each had two hits to lead Chester Bird offensively. Heck allowed six runs, three earned, on 12 hits while walking two and striking out one in seven innings of work.
The Birds then moved to from Duluth's Wade Stadium to Cloquet's Mettner Field for the third-place game and manager Isak Tranvik gave playing time to a number of his young players.
Jimmy Cron made his first pitching appearance as a Bird and worked into the fifth inning. Cron worked four and one-third innings, allowing 14 runs, 10 earned, on 15 hits while walking two and striking out one.
MacDonald came on to get the final two outs of the fifth inning and Labosky worked two scoreless innings to finish out the game.
Chester Bird took a 2-1 lead in the first inning as Labosky reached on his third infield single of the day before scoring on a Studsrud double and he would eventual scored on a John Backes sacrifice fly.
However, The Birds found themselves trailing 14-5 entering the bottom of the fifth inning before scoring three runs in their half of the fifth. Marcus Barone triple home Backes with a run and Sam Lynch had an RBI single to highlight the frame.
Chester Bird put two more runs on the scoreboard in the sixth when Heck doubled, scored on a basehit by Barone, who would eventually score on a Scott Quinby basehit.
The Birds' last ditch effort saw Studsrud, who reached on a fielder's choice, score following a double by Heck and a base hit by Backes. However, with the tying run at the plate, Fridley reliever Marcus O'Neill got a strikeout to end the game.
Quinby had three hits, including a triple, and three RBI to lead Chester Bird while Heck doubled twice. Barone, Labosky and Studsrud also added two hits.
The Birds are now off until July 10 when they return home for a 6 p.m. South Hennepin League game with Bloomington Gold, which faced Wayzata in the Lakeview Classic championship game.
