Shaver's two-run homer followed an RBI double by Joe Melles to cap a three-run first inning for The Birds and they never looked back, scoring runs in all six innings in which they batted.
Single runs in the second, third and fourth innings, along with Sutherland's two-run home run in fifth, gave Chester Bird an 8-0 lead when MacDonald turned the game over to Scott Quinby.
In his five-inning stint, MacDonald allowed just four hits and one walk while striking out two.
A pair of wild pitches proved to by Quinby's undoing as he allowed three hits in two innings, two of which were infield hits. However, after giving up a run with one out in the sixth, he struck out the final two batters of the inning and added a third in the seventh.
The Birds continue weekend play, returning to Wayzata tomorrow to face Robbinsdale Cooper at 9:30 a.m. and Wayzata at 12 p.m.
